Permenance is one of the power keys to effective advertising in the Seattle-Tacoma Market. While the market is changing and there are variations in the type of people that live in the market, one thing is a truth; an advertiser must have a permanent presence through advertising.
There are several outlets for advertising in the Seattle-Tacoma area that are extremely effective. Radio is powerful because of the time people spend in their cars, and so is Outdoor advertising.
However, if your target market demographic uses T.V. or Cable or Newspaper, then it is critical that you have a regular presence. Out of site is to be out of mind.
Your competition won't go away, therefore your presence in the mind of your future customers should not go away either. Most of your competitors are not going to keep the pressure on all the time, they will wax and wane with their advertising, therefore your have a monster advantage if you keep the advertising pressure up on a continuous basis.
In future blogs I will talk about selecting your weapons and sharpening them and then putting your weapons to work for you. You can't be all things to all people. But you can keep up the marketing and advertising fight and you can develop an approach that never settles, but is constantly growing.
One final thought, while direct mail is effective, especially if you have built a brand through traditional advertising, direct mail is not a constant presence in the mind of the consumer. At best, it is 7 seconds, and then the round file. Direct mail is a percentage game, and the percentages go up dramatically the more you build your brand through traditional advertising and a constant presence in the mind of your customer or client.
Remember, if you want to own a larger share of the market, you must own a larger share of mind.
